Research Interests

We are interested in understanding the inappropriate immune responses that occur in cancer and immunotherapy. Allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation is the fundamental cancer-directed immunotherapy, but is often limited by highly morbid and frequently fatal graft versus host disease. Our lab is studying signaling mechanisms that occur in GVHD between innate and adaptive cellular components of the engrafting immune system. For this, we use mouse models of bone marrow transplantation. We hope to leverage the knowledge gained about intra- and intercellular signaling in GVHD to design novel immunotherapy approaches and pilot preclinical studies.
